The Department of Health Promotion and Behavior (HPB) in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. The position is an academic year appointment (9 months) with an opportunity to supplement salary during the summer.The position will be 50% research and 50% instruction. The anticipated start date of the position is January 2018.

The HPB Department is composed of 16 faculty members, approximately 500 undergraduate students, and 60 graduate students. The department offers a PhD degree, an MPH degree with concentration in Health Promotion, and a BS in Health Promotion (BSHP). Commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, particularly in the area of research methods, as well as student mentoring, and supervision of student projects and dissertation research in the department and college is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have an advanced degree (PhD, MD, or other relevant doctoral degree) in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, Occupational Health Psychology or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with (1) demonstrated success or significant promise in obtaining extramural funding to support an independent research program, (2) a strong publication track record, and (3) demonstrated teaching effectiveness in the classroom. Applicants who can contribute to research priorities in the Department, particularly workplace health promotion, chronic disease management, and total worker well-being, are especially encouraged to apply.
