Job Summary

The University of Georgia’s College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences (CAES) is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Dean for Research. The position, housed on the Athens campus, will serve as a member of the CAES administrative team and report directly to the Associate Dean for Research and Director of the Agricultural Experiment Stations in providing support and direction for the College’s research enterprise. The position also works collaboratively with CAES Extension and Academic Affairs to enhance the tripartite mission of the College.

The College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences (CAES) is one of the largest and most research-intensive colleges of agriculture in the nation. Our research, instruction, and extension activities support a $74.3 billion agricultural industry, the largest sector of the economy in the state of Georgia.

• Prioritize projects and supporting resources to enhance the research infrastructure of the college.
• Coordinate sustainable maintenance and operations plans for buildings, facilities and equipment of the CAES Agricultural Research Stations.
• Work with the campus director and assistant dean at Griffin and Tifton to develop maintenance, operations and equipment plans for research facilities at these campuses.
• Liaise and coordinate with research superintendents on farms and research stations.
• Coordinate and develop plans to respond to issues raised in IACUC Inspection Reports.
• Foster collaborations and interactions with commodity groups.
• Cooperate with Teaching and Extension to enhance these activities, particularly as they relate to research.
• Support general Agricultural Experiment Station administration.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a terminal degree, preferably in one of the agricultural sciences or a related field, and have experience in land-grant and agricultural research settings.

Preferred Qualifications

1. A strong record of research productivity and success in obtaining extramural funding as a principal investigator is preferred.
2. Demonstrated leadership, project management, and effective communication skills are desirable.
