Job Summary

This is a 12-month, tenure track position with a 60% research and 40% teaching appointment. Teaching responsibilities will include developing an active graduate student program; mentoring undergraduate students; teaching several Weed Science courses; and potentially developing a course of interest to the candidate.

The candidate will develop an extramurally funded research program in weed biology. The research focus could be in weed ecology; ecophysiology; modeling weed characteristics, crop/weed interaction, weed invasiveness; seed bank/reproductive dynamics; and/or transformational approaches to integrated weed management. As an expanding field in agriculture, there is critical need for incorporating contemporary management strategies with new innovative approaches as challenges in weed control continue to change; i.e. weed shifts and herbicide resistance. UGA and USDA have an existing team of Weed Scientists that will complement the candidate’s expertise.

The University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation or protected veteran status.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in agronomy (with focus on Weed Science), weed biology and physiology, weed ecology, or closely related field.
