The Department of Counseling and Human Development Services in the College of Education at The University of Georgia seeks highly qualified candidates to fill a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Counselor Education and Supervision. The primary assignment for this position is with our CACREP-accredited Counseling and Student Personnel Services Ph.D. program beginning August 2018. Salary is competitive and includes an excellent fringe benefit package.

The CACREP-accredited Counseling and Student Personnel Services Ph.D. program has a strong national reputation and is well-known and respected within the state of Georgia. This counseling doctoral program began in 2008 and was the first doctoral program to be offered at the UGA Gwinnett campus. The program is housed within a department ranked 3rd by U.S. News and National Report, and the program foci include training students in counselor education with a unique emphasis on multicultural and social justice training across P-16 settings. Students complete the 60-hour, part-time program over four years and are taught through a cohort model of instruction. The program faculty are nationally and internationally known, and the program attracts excellent applicants from across the disciplines of school counseling, mental health counseling, and student affairs.

• Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program by the start date
• Record of active involvement in professional organizations such as ACA, ASCA, ACES
• Strong potential for or proven track record of developing a program of research
• Strong potential for or proven track record in attracting external funding
• Strong potential for or a proven track record of excellence in instruction and supervision
• Commitment to social justice
• Licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor in order to assist with the clinical core

Desirable
• Experience working with on-line education (1 year)
• Experience in building relationships with practicum and internship sites (1 year)
• Experience as a school counselor or professional working in the schools, in a college setting, or with a mental health agency (1 year)

Responsibilities
• Teach counseling courses on the Athens and Gwinnett campuses.
• Conduct an active research program in counselor education that includes publishing scholarly work in high-impact venues and disseminating work to national and international audiences.
• Seek external funding for the research program.
• Advise doctoral students.
• Supervise clinical core courses for the program.
• Assist in administrative duties as required by the program.
• Service to the institution and profession is also expected.
