Job Summary

The Department of Language and Literacy Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor with expertise in reading instruction and assessment for preschool and elementary students (P-5). This is a full-time tenure-track position that begins in August 2018.

Responsibilities will include:
● Develop and sustain a line of research that contributes to scholarly advancement in literacy education.
● Seek and secure external funding for research.
● Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in reading instruction and assessment (face-to-face, online, and/or blended).
● Mentor and advise graduate students.
● Engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service.
● Contribute to university and community partnerships.

● An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in literacy education or a related field by the position’s start date.
● An emerging record of high-impact scholarship.
● A record of seeking and/or obtaining external funding to support research programs or demonstrable potential.
● A record of participation with culturally and linguistically diverse schools or communities.
● A record of successful teaching at the university level or demonstrable potential.
● A record of collaborative, professional interactions or service supporting college students, the institution, and/or the discipline.
