The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, renewable, non-tenure, career-track appointment track position at the clinical assistant professor rank in the area of Athletic Training to begin 1 August 2018. Opportunities exist for summer teaching appointment. The University has a well structured promotion system for individuals in clinical track positions for advancement.

The Department of Kinesiology has 25 full‐time faculty members and offers BS, MS, and PhD programs in the academic areas of athletic training, exercise science, physical education, and sport management. Department faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their scholarly accomplishments and teaching excellence. The Department has exceptional facilities in the Ramsey Center located on the main campus. The athletic training program is nationally recognized and is a high demand major in the College of Education. The CAATE accredited program has a variety of clinical sites with UGA athletics, local high schools, and physical therapy clinics. The program is supported by a fully equipped athletic training teaching lab and an interactive simulation lab. Responsibilities: Clinical faculty at the University of Georgia are typically involved in the supervision of clinical training of students, interns, and/or residents; teaching; continuing professional education; university, school/college and departmental committees; and local, regional, and national professional organizations.

•Serve as program director for the current undergraduate CAATE accredited athletic training program.
•Collaborate with athletic training faculty to transition the undergraduate athletic training curriculum to a professional graduate athletic training program by 2020.
•Serve as program director for the proposed graduate CAATE accredited athletic training program.
•Teach undergraduate and graduate athletic training courses.
•Provide service to the institution and profession.

Minimum Qualifications

•An earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Kinesiology or a closely related field by 1 August 2018,
•Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification,
•Eligible for athletic training licensure in the state of Georgia,
•Previous clinical athletic training experience of at least 1 year, and
•At least 1 year of experience teaching at least 1 university-level course.

Preferred Qualifications

•Previous clinical athletic training experience of 2 or more years.
•Evidence of a national reputation in athletic training education (e.g., publications in refereed journals, professional service).
•At least 1 year of experience including: previous experience with curricular development; previous experience as an athletic training program director or clinical coordinator; and previous teaching experience in a CAATE accredited program.
•Demonstrated ability to develop/sustain a strong relationship with an athletic association and sports medicine staff.
•Demonstrated ability to develop new and sustained existing clinical sites.
