Job Summary | Full-Time Lecturer position in Dance beginning Fall 2018. Non-Tenure Track, Nine-month contract, benefit eligible. Primary responsibilities are to teach large sections of Dance Appreciation offered to all undergraduate students as part of the general education curriculum, and, teach ballet and jazz forms. Participate in departmental events and activities. Other duties/responsibilities as assigned. The UGA Department of Dance, within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, offers the B.F.A. degree with an option of teacher certification. UGA is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance. Five tenure-track, two lecturers and additional adjunct faculty and staff serve undergraduate dance majors, dance minors and 600-800 core and elective university students each year. The department houses three dance companies, CORE Contemporary and Aerial Dance Company, UGA Ballet Ensemble, and CADE:NCE as well as other performance opportunities for students, including Spring Dance Concert and the Young Choreographers Series. Annual performances are held in the New Dance Theatre, a flexible theatre space in the Dance Building. The Dance Building also contains four sprung floor studios, a classroom and media center for student use. Please see more information about our program at: www.dance.uga.edu. Minimum Qualifications | Terminal Degree (MFA or PhD degree in Dance). |
Preferred Qualifications | Two or more years of teaching experience at the university or professional level is helpful. Demonstrated ability to teach lecture-based course(s) in Dance Appreciation; ability to teach ballet and jazz. |
