The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This search is open to candidates wishing to pursue interests in any specialty within biochemistry and molecular biology. The Department has established strengths in structural biology, computational biology and bioinformatics, the biochemistry and molecular biology of RNA, signal transduction, stem cell biology, extremophile and metalloenzyme biochemistry, parasitology, metabolomics, as well as plant and animal glycobiology (further information is available at http://www.bmb.uga.edu). Candidates with research interests that expand or complement existing departmental strengths are particularly encouraged, but all outstanding applicants will be carefully considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in quantitative biophysical or life sciences with two years of postdoctoral experience in an area of biochemistry and molecular biology using state-of-the-art biophysical and biochemical approaches applied to research in life sciences, a solid publication record and a well-developed research plan. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong extramurally funded research program and contribute to teaching in the Department. The University of Georgia is a research-intensive land-grant university located in Athens-Clarke County with outstanding research facilities in mass spectrometry, NMR, crystallography, fermentation, informatics and cell biology.
