Job Summary

The appointee will develop a strong, extramurally funded research and teaching program with responsibilities in the study of plant-insect interactions with emphasis on agroecosystems. The position also has strong funding potential from Georgia’s Commodity Commissions. The successful applicant will provide research expertise at the interface of applied and basic research programs in Entomology. Opportunities for collaboration on plant improvement programs with personnel in other departments including Crop and Soil Sciences, Horticulture and Plant Pathology are also available. Demonstrated expertise in plant-insect interactions from either an ecological and/or molecular perspective will be considered. Instructional activities will include a course in the successful applicant’s area of expertise, contributions to a course in Integrated Pest Management, and mentoring graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicant must have earned a Ph.D. in Entomology or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong background of relevant course work, a strong record of scholarly achievement, and excellent communication skills. To qualify for Associate rank on hire, applicants must already hold Assistant or higher rank at another institution and show clear and convincing evidence of emerging stature as a regional or national authority.
